Re: Canadian/US tax implications for receiving Canadian pension

My wife and I are receiving CPP with direct deposit in Royal bank with zero withholding. I used CRA tool and our taxes are zero for pension income for non residents leaving in the USA.

Re: Sale of canadian property from non-resident

Nelsona, I have another question, if I did not report the change in use in 2009 (when took back possession after rental), what happened with the capital gain for that period that was not previously reported?. I already starting filling up the two forms T2062 and T2062a. I guess the T2062 cover the e...

Re: Sale of canadian property from non-resident

I thought CRA will require FMV for each time the house change status. I heard that I should have filed a deposition at every change. Is this supposed to be that complicated to apply for the certificate of compliance?. You sound like this is very simple to do.

Re: Sale of canadian property from non-resident

Thanks Nelsona for your answer. Do I need to have written FMV for the house everytime changed from residential to rental (2000), form rental to cottage (2009) and an appraisal for the current value (present)?

I talked to the immigration lawyer who did my GC. He said that my main residence will be US because my family will still live here. I already have the 30 months of physical presence and I will meet the continuous presence because I will not be abroad longer than six months (I will be coming once a m...

I understand that in the five year period you need to have 2.5 years of physical presence in the US and maintain US as your principal residence (5 years). So, I understand that I if do not stay longer than 6 months out of the US, I will be fine. Nelsona, is it that your understanding?

I have a similar situation. I have a green card and one more year to apply for citizenship. I have a job offer in Edmonton, but my wife and kids will stay in US to keep my main residence in the US. I will be flying every 3 to 4 weeks. I heard that if I say that this is a temporary position I will no...
