JohnSt, *that* info is also very worth knowing! It pretty much takes away any argument against filing.

I'm getting what I think is not good advice from my accountant on backfiling 8891s. I have read in many threads on this site to go back 6 years. She is telling me that you can only revise taxes back to 2004, that all IRS records are closed. Until I brought it to her attention, she had no idea what 8...

Nelsona, thank you for your reply. The more I thought about it after I posted that, the more it seemed evident that it would just become incredibly complicated (ie more so than it already is!) and I should just make my declaration to defer for all those years and be done with it.

As with many on here, I am backfiling 8891's to 2002. However, as I go over the RRSP statement records, there are some years when some of the plans have actually lost money.
