Canada tax question - US pension

Hi, I am a Canadian citizen. I transferred from Canada to the US with my employer back in 2007 on an L1B and remained in the US from May 2007 - November 2009. I returned to Canada with the same employer at that time, and just worked for the Canadian entity. My 2009 taxes were completed so that I was...

Importing Canadian car from US to Canada

Hi, No question here. Just some information for those that may be in the same situation as me. I transferred to the US on an L1-B Visa in May 2007. I owned my Canadian vehicle and imported it into the US since I planned on staying more than 1 year. Once my visa was set to expire, I made the decision...

[quote="dhirenasha"]Well that was the question itself. Well now its clear that it does not need any modifications. That means I can take this letter to Penn Dot and register my vehicle with a PA licence. The bad part is probaly I would paying PA taxes as its only 2 yrs old. I wish they sho...

Okay thanks. The work was done in Canada, and so I am okay with this. I guess I still figured that since I still paid some tax, it could be offset, but I guess it is offset in the US tax return. The firm doing the taxes is one of the Big 3, It is just that the Canadian offices did the Canada taxes, ...

Filing in Canada and US, question on income

I moved from Canada to the US effective April 30. I'm filing in both Canada and the US. Part of the job transfer was that the company would have my taxes done for me in both countries for the year in which I moved. I just received my Canadian tax return to be filed, and they have included a portion ...

Agreed. I can't say specifically what they would do, only speculate. But I would think that having it go to Collections in either country would not be a good option. Is there anyway you could establish a loan with a bank that would pay off the lease, and allow you to make monthly payments as if you ...

Not an expert here, but last year my advisor wanted me to move funds in my CDN RRSP while I was a resident in the US. He had been told that I could not purchase anything new in the account since I was not a resident. I could sell as much as I wanted, but could not buy. So perhaps we are limited to w...

This weekend I received both the sticker and the title to my vehicle. No other information was required, so I am guesing that no additional taxes are required at this time.

Still need to investigate about property tax on the car.

Well.....I did get to the Notary and provided all of the necessary paperwork. I was very clear that I was outside of the 20-day window and they were okay with it. They took copies of everything and provided me with a plate. I also have a temporary sticker that is good for 3 months, and has to be vis...

Just found this website and forum and think it is great. As an FYI to add to this thread, I moved from Ontario to PA in May 2007. I attempted to convert to PA plates early, but I was made aware that I had to get a PA license and insurance first. Once you get the plates, you have to get the car inspe...
