Perhaps no one is responding to this question because it is self-evident?!!! Well... unfortunately, it isn't self-evident to me. My guess is that I must fill out the W-8BEN (even if I have a permanent US address), is that correct?

W-9 or W8BEN

I'm signing a contract for a publication in the US. The publisher wants me to fill out either a W-9 or a W-8BEN. As a Canadian citizen working in the US on a H1-B, which of these two forms would I need to fill out? Thanks!

Thanks... I will certainly make sure that we get an ITIN. However, I first need to get the newborn into the US. Do you or anyone reading this thread know if I need to go to an embassy to get the newborn registered as a dependent on my H1-B or is there another way? Thanks!

My wife is expecting in March. The baby will be born in Canada. I am however working in the States. I am on an H1-B and my wife and other chidlren are listed as dependents. What must I do to get my newborn listed as a dependent? I surely don't need to go to a US embassy/consulate in Canada, do I? Th...
