My Priority Date became current early December, at which time my old I-94 had lapsed, and because of the 4-week goof-up I mentioned earlier, we didn't have a Notice of Receipt either.

Should've, could've, nothing much I can do really, particularly as the attorneys are calling ...

Sure, call me 44, actually you can call me PO'd.

My concerns are:

(1) this is the same Processing Center that didn't return the original I-129 package (because of incorrect payment) until 4 WEEKS after they had gotten it

(2) my employer's Immigration Attorney is ready to file my I-485, but can't ...

My I-129 was approved on January 18th, and the new I-94 supposedly mailed the same day. As of today, my H.R. department had not received any documents from DHS; when they called Customer Service (yes, they actually got to talk to a real person!), the message was "yes, the petition was approved, no ...

That's what I figured, but it's taken 5 years to get to this stage, and I do NOT want some bored anal-retentive civil servant filing all my paperwork under T for Trash because of some nit-picking rule.

Do I have to give DHS my "original" birth certificate, or will they accept a photocopy?

The certificate itself is a notarized copy of the original (which was lost before I even moved to Canada); I paid the UK company that now handles Central Records for this, so am loathe to lose it.

My I-129 was approved on January 18th; the Vermont 'backlog' is now down to a couple of weeks.

My immigration attorney is now preparing all the paperwork for my I-485 - and I am collecting certificates, signing forms, and writing checks for a total of $850.

"I am not an Immigration Attorney", BUT something I have had drummed into me over the last 10 years is that job descriptions and/or titles should not include the obscenity (to Free Trade Officers, anyway) "programmer".

Try Computer Systems Analyst, and fudge the job specifications: I'm sure ...

Seems like Vermont has come to a complete stop - currently, they're quoting July '06 as "latest processing date" :evil:

I am royally screwed this time - my GC priority date is current (after 4 years), but my immigration lawyer doesn't want to process my I-485 until I have a new I-94.
