Thanks Jim.

Also I forgot to mention that I just renewed my passport so I'll have to get a new stamp in the new passport.

H1B Extension renewal for Canadian

Hi, I got my H1B extension last October and I'm going to Canada soon so I can get a stamp in my passport on the way back. When I got my original H1B, I just went to the airport with the i797 form, filled out the I94 and that was it. My friends that are non-Canadians all had to go to US embassies in ...

I've spent a lot of time looking into this, and there's really no way to cover both bases (US and Canada). If you contribute to 529, you'll have to pay pentaly if your kids go to Canadian schools. I don't like Coverdell ESAs because you lose control of the money, if you want to cash out, it goes to ...

Re: GC confiscated by US Border authority.

On a trip to the U.S. via Port Huron/Sarnia, I (the fool) presented my Canadian Perminent Resident Card and my U.S. GC to the US authority at the crossing gate.. The Customs or Immigration official at the gate asked me if I were a resident of the U.S or Canada. I said Canada. He said I couldn't hav...

Online selling on H4

Hi, I'm on a H1 visa and my wife is on H4. She wanted to join one of those online t-shirt websites where you upload t-shirt designs and when someone orders it, they would make and ship the t-shirt to the buyer, keep a chunk of the profit and give the rest to you. Is this allowed on H4? I know she ca...

Foreign tax credit carryover question

I am in US on an H1 visa and my wife is on H4. My wife had some income from Canada in 2003 and 2004, and we have about $600 in foreign tax credit that we were not able to use in 2004. Now I know that I can carry this over for next 5 years, but do I have to file something to keep track of this $600? ...
