oh, one other question. how do I account for the fact that my Canadian mortgage interest and real estate taxes are in CANADIAN dollars? Does IRS do a conversion?

hello-
(1) I am a US citizen and a new permanent resident of Canada (as of October 1, 2006). It is my understanding that I need to be resident for at least 183 days in order to have to file a Canadian tax return. So, no Canadian return is required for 2006? Is that correct?
