Re: Canadian file required or not

So, in other words no need to file a Canadian NR return even though T4 was issued as it is treaty exempt wages?

I understand to declare it with my US return, but would I need to include anywhere the already minimal Canadian tax paid on it? Just curious as I've never done this before.

Canadian file required or not

Hello, If my previous Canadian employer issued a T4 for a retroactive pay regarding union contract negotiation delays for 3k Cad and deducted income tax, EI, Cpp etc, am I required to file a Canadian NR tax return? Or can I just input this information when filing with IRS as I am now a US resident f...

RPP on 8938

Hi,

I can't seem to figure out if a Canadian RPP is reportable on the 8938 if it is above the threshold. Can someone shed any info on this?

Re: Non-resident filing

Thanks for the reply. I read on CRA's website that non-residents should only file if they owe tax and want a refund or claim credits. Since this is a minimal amount and federal tax, CPP, and EI was already deducted I don't care about the refund. Just wasn't sure if I was required to file or not, leg...

About 90 dollars of income tax was deducted. My question is: do I have to file a non-resident Canadian tax return even though I th...

Re: Question about property in Canada

We do not plan to sell it or rent it out to them. Nor claim any expenses. They're retiring soon and want to be closer to other family members that's all, and we are okay with that. So I guess there is no tax required paperwork on our end in this situation. Given this response, do we (the actual home...

Question about property in Canada

Hi there, My family and I have emigrated from Canada to the US in 2019. We are US tax residents and green card holders. When we left Canada we decided to keep our former principal residence as a vacation home. We visit and stay in the house for a couple weeks during winter and summer school breaks. ...
