Nelsona, thank you for reply. I heard there are delays in I-140 and I-485 now, this can be dangerous for TNers?
What are waiting-to-apply time and processing times on each step today, does anyone know?

If TN visa expires in the middle of the immigration process?

Dear all, what TN-er should do if any of the immigration stages, for example 485 processing or any other step, takes longer than one year due to any kind of delays?

How to stay and continue working in the country, how to re-enter?

Hi all, does anyone know - for self-employed in US, if in 2005 business expenses were greater than business income, and was no wages, and in 2006 business income is much greater than expenses, Is it possible to write off these losses from 2005 in 2006? If the answer is yes - then where to report thi...

Thank you Nelson, does this mean that there is a little chance of such scenario?
One more question. Is there connection between INS and IRS during PERM EB-2 processing, other words, they need to check your income somehow , I think minimum 68-70K for EB-2. Or do they require income tax or pay stubs?

Hi all, I have been reading carefully and just wonder. If GC application on 'immigration' stage is either rejected or unsuccessful, will a person EVER be able to get TN after?

TN --> GC through PERM for contractor - possible?

Hi, I am wondering - do you need to be a permanent employee on W2 in the company to start the GC process? Is there a way to go for GC remaining in a company as a contractor?

Nelson and Carson kindly responded here:

As for CCRA, if shareholders are foreign then the corp is foreign, and income is taxed at a different rate. But you may want to verify this.

Canadians in US: penalties for not filing form 5471

It looks like Canadians who have their own Canadian corporations must file Form 5471.
It is very complex, and there are big penalties for not filing.
It references treaty's exceptions that are not very clear.
Is anyone aware of this form?

Nelson, thank you, sorry for disturbing, problem that they do not give much time for decision, I have either to sign the contract with them or give up.

First they refuse to deel thru my Canadian corp (my first post), suggest to open a US corp, and now this "per deem"...

Hi all, one more question if anyone knows the answer. For this new job the company wants to pay me less than we initially agreed, but pay in parts: part on corp-to-corp, and other part on what they call "per-deem". They say "per deem" means they cover my living expenses (food, sh...

US corporation, foreign expenses

Hi, I need advise on the US corp taxation, more detailed - US corp's foreign expenses. I have a Canadian corp. I got a new job in US and was advised to open the US corp. My accounter told me 3 yrs ago in a similar situation that 1116 doesn't work well because if you use 1116 then on 1040 you will not be able to write off business expenses from foreign income if foreign income is business income. The 1116 credit you receive is not 100% credit but only part of it in t...
