Re: CRA Canadian taxes
On Dec 31, 2020, I had no cars, house or property. The only things I had was a regular TD bank account, TFSA, RRSP. I had sold out completely of my regular margin brokerage accounts prior in Nov 2020. Do you think it would be better if I did a REFILE / amended to my Tax year 2020 or if I just filed ...

Re: CRA Canadian taxes
Thanks Nelsona, my CPA told me there wasn't amended returns for CRA (said instead I should try to file a 2021 Tax return for a single day in Canada). I looked up REFILE, if I was to go the amended route would I simply just need to add a departure date of 12/31/2020 to my 2020 Canada taxes since I ha...

Re: CRA Canadian taxes
Since Canada doesn't have amended returns could I just file a NR73 and declare that I left Dec 31,2020? Thus technically I would no longer need to file anything to CRA?

Re: CRA Canadian taxes
I forgot to put the 2020 as a departure return, and the only income I have is from TD Canada $50CAD of bank interest which I reported to the IRS on my 2021 return. Thanks

CRA Canadian taxes
When you consider yourself as a non-resident of Canada, you don't need to do anything right? No need to file taxes or send any forms for both Canada federal or Ontario provincial?
I was on the h1b for all of 2021 Jan - Dec and have no ties, spouse or house or cars in Canada.

Re: TFSA and RRSP Impact
Thank you! I didn't realize RRSP needed to be added to fbar. Does the fact that I held ETFs (Xeqt, psa) require me to do anything additional?

Re: TFSA and RRSP Impact
Sorry I just realized it my TFSA is under $10k USD, does this mean I don't need to report for FBAR or anything else?

Re: TFSA and RRSP Impact
Thank you! So the only thing I would need for a TFSA (worth 10k) is report the dividends on Schedule B as (same as any 1099-DIV). Do I also need to fill out a 3520 or anything else for it (I am on h1b in US, canadian citizen, US resident alien).

Re: TFSA and RRSP Impact
Thank you, where would I report TFSA distributions (dividends?)? since my broker Questrade didn't prepare a tax form this year?

TFSA and RRSP Impact
Hi folks, I am trying to figure out how to incorporate my TFSA and RRSP into my tax filings this year. I am on an H1B so resident alien in USA, NY. It seems that if it is less than $50k total, there's no tax impact and you just need to fillout and file a FBAR? Thank you

Proof of Payment/Final Tax Bill of NY State Tax
I was hit with an audit from the CRA for 2020 taxes and they asked me to send in a "final bill" / tax transcript from my NY state taxes. However NY State tax doesn't do this and there isn't anything on their website that is able to show a final tax bill. I sent in a picture of my processed...
