HI nelsona
how are you? I am doing my treaty proforma calculations and I was wondering when entering spousal Canadian income, should the income reported be the income - (RRSP, retirement amount) or the whole amount?
Any suggestions?
Regards and thank you,
Sajc

I ask this because I read that since in Canada, there is govt assisted medicare, one cannot contribute to a HSA.

Re: Standard deduction , TN, first time
Hi Nelsona
At last at a stage of sending in the taxes. Thank you for your help. I was wondering do we send in the 1040 "pro forma" forms along with the 1040NR or just mention that we are using a treaty in letter would suffice?
Sorry for a dumb question.
Regards
Sajan

Re: Standard deduction , TN, first time
Nelsona,
For while filing Michigan taxes ..can we use treaty and file married filing jointly option and get exemptions for both me and spouse or do I have to use married filing separately and only use single exemption?
Any suggestions?
Thank you
