Re: W-7 , how to fill up Treaty country and treaty article number
My spouse get SS benefits.
I am going to apply for the same . As I know I have option to get 50% of my spouse SS benefit.
To apply I need ITIN.
I think, in this case, I need to mark b-Nonresident alien, filling a U.S. federal tax return

I am renewing an existing ITIN by form W-7.
I checked box "a" - nonresident alien required to get an ITIN to claim treaty benefit.
Now I have to "Enter treaty country" and "treaty article number".
Please, help with these entries!

I have got form 1042-S from US bank
I have got form 1042-S from US bank (with huge $56 interest )
1 is 29 –deposit interest
3a is 01 –effectively connected income
No federal tax withheld
It looks as I must to put $56 to form 1040-NR in line 9a (taxable interest) and pay US tax.
Is it correct?
What do you think?

Re: IRA RMD taxation
I have found: IRS Publication 597 Social security benefits. U.S. social security benefits paid to a resident of Canada are taxed in Canada as if they were benefits under the Canada Pension Plan, except that 15% of the amount of the benefit is exempt from Canadian tax It looks as need to report in Sc...

You told me I have to submit to IRS 1040NR report for IRA (1099-R) and I do not need to report IRS SS benefits -only Canadian tax report. My question is : If I submit 104oNR for 1099-R should I include in the form SSA-1042...

I started to get SSA retirement pension. I am Canadian.
I am Canadian Citizen and Canadian resident.
This year I started to get SSA retirement pension. There is no withholding tax for this money.
The pension is small -$295/month.
I am pretty sure I must report this money to CRA.
MUST I report this money ( and maybe pay taxes) for IRS (1040 NR)???
