Form 8880
With a lot of us on the Forum working from home (in Canada) since mid March 2020, would it be advantageous to file Form 8880 to reduce our U.S. taxes and potentially to get a bigger refund if we were contributing to a 401k for the year? We would possibly qualify since we had low US Sourced Income an...

Re: Cross border tax compliance
Thanks for the info! Do you know if the way we used our 401k as a deduction on Form RC268 is still the same as in past years even though we worked more in Canada last year?

Re: Cross border tax compliance
Hello Nelsona. My tax situation is very similar to alfiecan, where I worked from home in Canada for most of the year (whereas in normal years I would commute to the states daily). My employer adjusted the amount in Box 1 of my W-2 (to represent my U.S. source employment income), but they didn't do t...

I have an RRSP and TFSA already on the Canadian side of the border if this helps... Are Canadians that wo...

Can you claim Canadian Taxes on Schedule A of Form 1040NR?
Hello, I am a Canadian Citizen who commutes and works in the states. I was wondering if I can deduct Canadian Taxes that I paid from the previous year on Schedule A? For example: If I paid $500 in Canadian taxes in 2019 (all from Ontario Health Premium for the 2018 tax year) could I put that on my 2...

401k Contribution
Hello, I live in Canada but I work in the states and was wondering how I fill out Form RC268 for my contributions to an employer sponsored 401k (I commute across the border everyday). I contribute a percentage of my income to the 401k and my employer matches up to 8% of my income if I contribute 10%...
