Dual status tax returns

Ok I see the more detailed information in chapter 6. I notice that you can elect to be a resident for the whole year. Is there any advantage for a Canadian living in the US to file as a full year resident as opposed to filing as a dual status alien?

Yes, if you are married and/or you have little deductions.
