ETFs in RRSP

Post by MItoON »

Hi all:

Long-time lurker who has found this forum to be very informative as he's learned how to navigate US-Canada tax considerations.

I have one question regarding ETFs: I'd like to start a RRSP in the near future. From what I understand, when it comes to Canadian mutual funds, one can avoid PFIC reporting, provided the mutual fund is held in the RRSP. Does the same situation apply to non-US ETFs? I've tried searching all over (including this forum) and am having trouble finding a definitive answer.

Any advice is very much appreciated.
