Any interest in starting a white house petition for:
1) simplification or elimination tax reporting for americans resident overseas
2) elimination of double taxation
3) elimination of the horrendous penalties for non-filing
4) creation of members of congress that americans resident overseas can elect and that would represent their interests.
Looks like we need to drum up at least 150 signatures to get it posted. I would also take suggestions for the wording of the petition or comments if anyone has tried this before. Seems like americans overseas have really been given the short end of the stick.

There is already a petition at signon a division of Move On that has over four hundred signatures on it and it will be presented in person in D.C. If you have not signed it yet then google "Repeal FATCA petition" it will come up at the top of the page. I don't have the link for it right now but, that should bring it up for you and I will try to add the link here soon.

Hi,
I've just joined and not written an intro yet but wanted to say that the petition is now up to 600 signatures and the plan is for it to be delivered to Washington personally. I have also heard that ACA intends to have a petition directly on the White House site.

Actually, online petitions don't really work...they aren't taken seriously. It's better to write your Congressman....but lacking a congressman....write the president....as this guy did:
