Walsh,

if you have not yet done with f8891, you should just follow nelsona's suggestion and file them now.

if IRS does want to change the rules, they will have to explain what they did in the past. It is IRS's responsibility to keep its policy consistent and notify taxpayers in advance of any change.

It is a bit disengenuous for Hogden to be proposing to fight for the little guy ('its going to kill our cottage industry') when they have been charging for unnecessary PLR's.

Such cottage industry should never have existed.

Its kind of like an electrician saying you will ask for govt permission not to have to rewire your house every time your lightbub burns out. A) he needs no such permission, and B) he was ripping you off in the first place.

IRS also charges $2000 for PLR, according to Hogden I can't find the fee on IRS web.
